Alma Bistro in Breda will continue under the name Amí Bistro as of June 1, 2025. The cooperation with Alma Oisterwijk and Wouter van Laarhoven has ended and the bistro will continue independently under the leadership of owner-hostess Malou Hagenaars who has been awarded by Michelin with a Sommelier Award of 2023.
After the partnership with Alma Oisterwijk ended respectfully a few months ago, Amí Bistro will build on its own foundation as of June 2025 under owner Malou Hagenaars: a warm, accessible bistro where the guest is truly central and where every detail, from dish to glass, contributes to a meaningful experience.
The kitchen remains true to its signature: working with the best products, inspired by star chefs, in an atmosphere without fuss, but rich in flavor and authenticity. Opened in July 2024, the bistro already earned a place in the leading restaurant guides Michelin and Gault&Millau within a short time.
Personal
The name Amí means “friend” in French and in Spanish, a mí literally means “for me personally. A meaning that fits perfectly with the personal vision with which hospitality woman at heart and chosen by Michelin as Sommelier of the Year 2022 Malou Hagenaars shapes her company. Malou Hagenaars (30 years old): “Moreover, Amí is the nickname of my prematurely deceased mother, to whom I lovingly dedicate the bistro. This makes Amí Bistro not only a culinary destination, but also a place with soul, a place that feels like coming home.”

Amí Bistro is distinguished by both its recognizable culinary style and its extensive wine and cocktail list. This is compiled by the sommelier team led by Jasper Verhagen, a renowned name in Dutch gastronomy with broad experience in top restaurants. The menu offers a surprising selection of wines and gourmet cocktails, composed with love, knowledge and an unerring sense of taste.
Oasis in the city
The location on Ginnekenweg in Breda is also an asset in itself: stylish, intimate and with a beautiful green courtyard garden, it is an oasis of peace in the middle of the city. Thanks to its direct location near Mols Parking, guests can also park practically in front of the door, which also makes Amí Bistro very suitable for business lunches and dinners.
Sincere hospitality
Guests can also count on the familiar faces of the familiar team after June 1. Malou Hagenaars: “We continue to give sincere hospitality and do what we excel in. And in our new jacket we will do that even more personally and refined. Furthermore, we are expanding our opening hours and as of June we will also be open for lunch on Wednesdays. Gift vouchers can be redeemed and reservations will of course continue to be made.”
